Hello, this is what I do.

Good storytelling takes many forms. Sometimes it's a striking book cover, an elegantly designed page, a carefully chosen word, or a photograph that captures something words can't quite express.

For more than two decades, I've worked at the intersection of words and visuals, bringing together design, writing, editing, and photography to create work that communicates clearly and leaves a lasting impression. Along the way, I've designed covers for bestselling authors, contributed to Amazon's Kindle Singles program, and led the award-winning redesign of NASA's ASK Magazine.

Every project brings its own challenges, and that's what keeps the work interesting. Whether I'm developing a visual concept, refining a narrative, or finding just the right composition, my approach begins with understanding the story, the audience, and what makes each project worth telling.

The work collected here reflects that philosophy: thoughtful creative decisions, an eye for detail, and a belief that the best storytelling doesn't always happen on the page.

I've spent more than two decades making words and visuals work better together. Along the way, I've worn quite a few hats: designer, writer, editor, photographer, creative lead, and production manager. What ties them all together is a love of good storytelling and the satisfaction of turning complex ideas into something clear, engaging, and beautifully executed.

My career has taken me from leading editorial and design teams to producing award-winning publications for NASA, developing content and communications for technology companies, and designing books for bestselling authors. Today, I run my own book-design studio, Covered by Kerry, where I bring much of that experience together.

I'm equally comfortable tackling the big picture and fussing over the smallest details. I believe creativity and organization make excellent partners, and I love collaborating with people who care as much about the process as the finished product.

Whatever the medium, my goal is simple: make something meaningful, and make it well.
